Summary

Under limited supervision perform diagnostic psychological assessment of patients; provide individual and/or family psychotherapeutic services; provide psychological consultant and referral services to medical staff; supervise psychology interns and other ancillary staff.

Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform diagnostic psychological testing of patients; determine differential diagnoses and intervention strategies with feedback to referring physician; compile information from patient chart, previous reports, current psychological data and reports from external agencies; prepare written reports and oversee report writing by research assistants.
  • Provide consultation, treatment, evaluation and instruction to medical staff, residents, students, and allied health professionals.
  • Provide individual counseling/psychotherapy and/or family therapy for referral cases; maintain ongoing treatment evaluation and documentation.
  • Refer patients to CHM departments or external agencies to address problems determined by evaluation.
  • Aid in designing and developing psychological research programs; prepare grants and publish papers, chapters and books.
  • Provide community education through lectures, radio/TV and newspaper articles.
  • Ensure that fees are collected or billed for psychological services rendered.

Required Skills

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients serviced on assigned unit (s). Demonstrated knowledge includes principles of growth and development over each patient’s life span. Possess ability to assess data reflective of each patient’s status and interprets appropriate information needed to identify age-specific requirements. Provide care as described in department policies and procedures. Educational and clinical skills to effectively instruct residents and medical students and counsel patients and families. Creative thinking; analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities; self-direction; theoretical knowledge and skills to conduct full diagnostic psychological assessments of patients.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Clinical, Educational or Community Psychology. Major in Clinical Psychology preferred, including graduate courses in child development. Limited or full licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Michigan. One to two years pediatrics or community clinic experience. Internship in pediatric or child clinical psychology

Language Skills

Effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and families under stressful situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Under the direction of the administration of the Autism Center of Excellence will be responsible for providing behavioral intervention and educational services to two-five year old children in a therapeutic and pre-school classroom setting located in Novi. Work collaboratively with team members to provide excellent services to children with Autism.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred. State of Michigan teaching certificate a plus. . One to two years teaching experience in a school or other educational setting.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of thechildren. Demonstrated knowledge includes principles of growth and development over each patient’s life span. Ability to provide care as described in department policies and procedures. Must have good organizational skills.

Bachelors Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field. State of Michigan teaching certificate preferred. One to two years teaching experience in a school or other educational setting.

Required Skills

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients serviced on assigned unit (s). Demonstrated knowledge includes principles of growth and development over each patient’s life span. Ability to provide care as described in department policies and procedures. Ability to differentiate instruction for a variety of age and ability levels. Flexibility in teaching style. Ability to provide large and small group instruction. Knowledge of special education and procedures is preferred.
